Good idea to throw Rio straight back into action against Liverpool?

To be honest, I think Fergie has been left no choice on the matter. Even though Rio is desperately short of match fitness, the terrible form of Silvestre probably made the decision for him. Nevertheless, it's good to have Rio back. He's one of the best centre-halves in the world and was showing fantastic form before he was banned. His focus and dedication to the cause has been highlighted by Fergie, who stated that he only ever missed training on 5 occasions during the ban, and those were because of the court cases.

I will take a stance of 'cautious optimism' for tomorrows game against Liverpool. Fresh, from their victory against Monaco in mid-week, Liverpool always seem to raise their game against us, and their talismanic midfielder Gerrard will prove a thorn in our side unless Keane and Scholes (or Fletcher and Djemba if they're playing) are on top of their game.

The way I see us winning this game will be to utilise our wide players. Ronaldo and Giggs will most likely make mince-meat out of their respective opponents Riise and Finnan, and hopefully Ruud will bring his good form against Lyon into this game to get on the end of any crosses that come his way. Additionally, I hope John O'Shea gets the nod over Phil Neville for the right back spot because his marauding runs forward will be necessary to keep Riise in his own half and also to keep Kewell at bay.

I'm sure our players are perfectly aware that a win tomorrow could well be the tonic we need to kickstart our season. C'mon United!!

Rio HAS to start - I totally agree with your comments about Silvestre, and we can't afford to keep giving cheap goals away. Hopefully Rio can add some stability there.

Gerrard, Luis Garcia, Kewell and Alonso will run the defence ragged. Baros will score 1, Cisse 2.

Gerrard will show that he is the best midfielder in the world and will control the game.

When was the last time you saw Liverpool? Finnan hasn't played right back this season. Josemi will more likely (and probably literally) make mincemeat of Giggs.

Ronaldo vs Riise is where us Liverpool lads are worrying, especially seeing as how poorly we've been dealing w/crosses & set pieces.

But you do well to acknowledge that your CM has very little chance against there Liverpool counterparts. Look for players streaming forward onto precise throughballs from Alonso/Gerrard.

Given the expansive way Liverpool have been playing just recently, I'd recommend your defenders concentrate on defending. Although we haven't scored that many goals, we've create a boatload of chances.

Finally, I think this game will end up playing out in reverse. ManU will be limited to playing on the counter-attack and Liverpool will control the game.

I can see it being the battle of the mid field who ever controls that area will come out on top.

Ferdinand the saviour? U gotta be kidding. He was never appreciated when around n even then he is better coz he makes less mistakes than Silvestre. Silvestre should play left back where he is most effective. O'Shea is our most reliable centre back.

Giggs is not so fast nowadays n will hav to work very hard to beat Josemi. As for Ronaldo, A.Cole has shown that a few hard tackles early on is all it takes to shut him out.

Keane is expired product with ageing legs n Scholes is off form. Kleberson gets frustrated easilly n throws wild tackles. So we are left with Djemba n Fletcher against Gerrard, Alonso or Hamman. We need a prayer.

Up front the only consolation is Rudd provided he gets good service. We can't beat a weak Liverpool at OT last season what now we are facing a better team. Did u guys see the way they toyed with Monaco? Could hav been 5-0 or 6-0 if they had a finisher like Rudd.

I dunno why they always raise their game against us.
Let's hope Dudek will do us a favour again or Hyppia gets sent off after 5 mins.

Whether Ronaldo monkeys Riise or vice versa i don't know. But i think Ronaldo shd join the circus or a dance troupe. He wld make a good entertainer. He is still raw n most of the time dunno what he wants to do with the ball. But i still think he is a good buy n will help us in the future. As for now he can only entertain.

The match holds highly symbolic significance for Man Utd. With Ars on a 46 league games unbeaten run n Chelsea fueled by money to the summit of the EPL, many have wondered has the Man Utd dynasty ended?
Liverpool was known to be the Kings of the 60s n 70s but faded badly as Man Utd replaced it as the team of England. Ironically, fate has it tat Pool will meet Man utd at a time when doubts over Man U have been at its cresendo n Ars fast imposing themselves as the new order. This game represents a mirror which flashes in the face of Man utd wat a loss cld signify...a place down history lane like liverpool.... once a dominant force which declines with the change of guards. Can Man Utd change its fate against the team which it does not want to be like....remains to be seen. Will Rio be her messiah...only hours separate us from an answer

Rio has got to start. Its a major contradiciton if he doesnt cos the reason i can think of is that he isnt match fit. But if Ruud for all his operation and match UNfitness was thrown into a tough Champion league tie at Lyon..dun see why Rio shd be on the bench. Wouldnt make sense. Watever it is, Rio had better not screw up after all that patience with his silly mistake to miss a drug test, and not to mention, the 70 000pounds weekly wages tat Man U splurged on him. Alex had been really kind to him. If i was Alex, i would hve slap him myself. 30m punds flop wannabe
